Group Programs at the Pequest Trout Hatchery
Thank you for your interest in bringing your group to the Division of Groups of a minimum of 15 participants in grades 2 and up may schedule a program on weekdays, and on weekends as schedule permits. The basic program consists of a video or slide presentation about the hatchery followed by a guided tour. Natural Resource Trail hikes, focusing on wildlife habitat and natural resources, and a session on aquatic ecology are also offered.
Fishing education classe are offered from April through October to groups with between 15 and 20 people. Classes cover safety, ethics, technique and equipment followed by an actual fishing experience on Pequest's trout stocked education pond. Call 908-637-4125 to inquire about availability. Approximately one month before your scheduled group program, you will receive a confirmation packet containing background information and activities to be used before a visit. The activities are designed to give students a better understanding of what they will experience at Pequest. There are picnic facilities on the grounds, but no vending machines or indoor/sheltered eating facilities. Students will be outdoors for part of the program and should dress accordingly.
